G9 How does the amount of crackers you eat affect your ability to whistle?
September 13, 2019 – Grade 9 Whistling Cracker Lab
This week in science class, we did a cracker whistling lab. We were split into groups of 3 and each group had to make their own research question, hypothesis, background information, etc. We used subjects that are able to whistle and each subject had to consume different amounts of crackers depending on the group. We had to research about crackers and how could it affect the amount of saliva produced. The lab was very messy because some people had to force themselves to eat 3 crackers so most of the crackers crumble before it went inside the mouth. The results experiment showed that most people were not able to whistle after eating 3 crackers because most of them could not fit more than 3 crackers into their mouth and they felt how dry their mouth was as a result of eating too many crackers.
