G12: Mitosis vs. Meiosis Posters
9 September 2019
Over the past week, the Grade 12 IB Biology students have worked on a project to individually create a poster regarding mitosis and meiosis. This project relates to the genetics unit that the class is currently studying. By drawing and annotating both mitosis and meiosis, we were able to recognize the differences between the two cell divisions and become accustomed to identifying the different phases and activities that occur in each division. Certain aspects, such as crossing-over, random orientation and chiasmata were particularly significant for us to distinguish in meiosis. After completing the posters, everyone had attached them to the doors to become visible to everyone else. Then, we participated in a ‘gallery walk’ where we looked at other people’s posters and stuck sticky notes with comments or suggestions next to them.
